B. 20    RIGHT THINKING - RIGHT BLINKING

Incorrect blinking, also called signalling or indicating, is a simple mistake, which can easily lead to misunderstanding and serious road crashes. The indicators are a vital tool to 'talk' to other drivers, letting them know, what you intend to do- not already doing!

 

	Incorrect left indicator <<< This driver indicates left to enter the petrol station. The van driver, assumes the car will turn. The van driver should have waited until sure, where the car is turning into     >>>
Both drivers share the blame. The car driver must be aware of the street before the petrol station. He/she should have immediately cancelled the indicator and reactivated it after passing the van.

Incorrect right indicator: This truck indicates to turn right into the side road, but continues straight ahead.	If the truck would turn right as indicated, the van would have no problem overtaking on the left.

Signal well before the action. Indicators warn of your intention to turn or diverge or stop, not that you are already doing it. 

Example: When parking the car at the kerb - indicate before reducing speed. Traffic behind will expect you to stop, and move around you! Slowing down, looking for a space without indication, confuses traffic behind. You risk a rear-end collision.  

If your indicator warning fails (listen for sound and warning light), have it repaired immediately. Crashes caused by faulty indicators are common. 

Do not act on another vehicle's indicators, until you are sure the action indicated by the other motorist is what he or she will do.
