B. 19   LONG VEHICLES NEED SPACE

Motor vehicle crashes often occur when two drivers make mistakes - at the same time and place. In this incident a truck turned unexpectedly.

DO NOT

 OVERTAKE

 TURNING

 VEHICLE

This large Semi-trailer could not turn left into the side road, except commencing from the right-hand lane. The truck driver did not anticipate an overtaking motor car in the left lane.

The unfortunate motorist in the car ignored the truck's left indicator.

Both drivers share responsibility for the mishap.

When turning right a long vehicle may encroach into your lane. Overtake only after the turn. Red/yellow striping, as displayed on the rear of this semi-trailer, means: Do not overtake turning vehicle!
